I am the Head of Legal (Consumer and Mergers & Acquisitions) at Lesaka Technologies, a dual-listed South African fintech focused on expanding financial inclusion through banking, payments and financial services solutions.

As a woman in leadership, I lead the legal function supporting Lesaka’s Consumer Division, which provides accessible financial products and services to millions of South Africans, while also overseeing legal support for strategic acquisitions and corporate transactions across the Group. Since joining Lesaka less than three years ago, I have progressed from Group Legal Counsel and Legal Business Partner to Head of Legal, earning a seat at the leadership table through a combination of legal expertise, commercial thinking and a commitment to delivering practical business outcomes.

I am particularly proud to be building a career in an industry and at a level where women remain underrepresented, helping demonstrate that leadership can be both ambitious and collaborative.

I progressed to Head of Legal within three years, led complex strategic transactions including Bank Zero, and helped advance financial inclusion while breaking barriers as a young woman in executive leadership.

My vision is to continue growing into broader executive leadership while remaining committed to developing others along the way. I want to be the kind of leader who creates opportunities, not just for herself, but for future generations of professionals, particularly young women entering business and law.

For South Africa, I envision a country where opportunity is not determined by background or circumstance, where innovation drives inclusive growth, and where access to education, financial services and economic participation empowers more people to realise their potential. I believe leaders have a responsibility not only to build successful organisations, but also to contribute positively to the society around them.

Over the past few years, I have embraced opportunities many would consider daunting, stepping into increasingly senior leadership roles while advising on some of the most significant transactions in South Africa’s fintech sector. Since joining Lesaka, I have progressed rapidly into a senior leadership position and helped lead legal support on acquisitions including Adumo, Recharger, Touchsides and Bank Zero.

I hope my journey demonstrates that young professionals, particularly women, do not need to wait decades before taking on meaningful leadership responsibilities. Through hard work, resilience and a willingness to embrace challenge, significant impact can be achieved early in one’s career.
