I built my DJ brand from the ground up and manage every aspect of it myself, from bookings and client relationships to planning and performing at each event. I operate independently rather than employing a permanent team, collaborating with other musicians and suppliers when required. What started purely as a passion has grown through word of mouth, referrals and repeat clients. I have continued to develop my offering by combining DJing with live saxophone sets, creating a style and an experience that has become uniquely associated with my performances.
I appreciate the nomination and am so humbled that someone took the time to elect me. My relationship with clients runs deep and it is with this bond that makes people appreciate my talent and personality in the music and party I produce for them. It is my clients needs that come first and I understand that and the relationships with people is my skill. I am deserving of this award due to the years of deep understanding of music and people fusing. Each function brings its own flavour and I can read the room and figure out what to produce my best.
My vision is to continue growing my platform and use music to create opportunities, bring people together and give back. South Africa has incredible creative talent, and I want to be part of a generation that chooses to develop that talent locally, supports one another and shows young people what is possible when passion is matched with hard work.
I have pursued my qualification and career as a mechanical engineer while simultaneously growing my passion for DJing and live music. It has meant long days, late nights and sacrificing free time, but I hope it shows others that you don’t have to choose between your profession and your passion. If something matters to you, make the time, take the opportunity and see where it can lead.
