I am a strategic philanthropy consultant and Founder and CEO of PhilanthroStrat, a consultancy I established to help philanthropy move beyond short-term giving towards more strategic, sustainable and measurable impact.
I work at the intersection of donors, businesses and social-impact organisations, helping align funding with organisational strategy, strengthen partnerships and build models that create long-term capability rather than dependency.
My work is shaped by a multigenerational legacy of philanthropy through Afrika Tikkun, Smile Foundation and the Lubner Family Foundation, but PhilanthroStrat represents the path I have chosen to build independently. I believe the next generation of philanthropy must combine values with strategy, innovation, accountability and collaboration.
I believe I was nominated for building a new model of strategic philanthropy that brings greater strategy, accountability and long-term thinking to how social impact is approached. My journey has been shaped by a strong family legacy of giving, but I have been intentional about creating my own path, building PhilanthroStrat and developing an independent voice in the sector. I believe legacy can be inherited, but purpose is chosen and I have chosen to use what I have inherited to help organisations move beyond short-term generosity towards sustainable, measurable and empowering impact.
My vision is to help build a South Africa where business, philanthropy, government and civil society collaborate more effectively around shared challenges.
I want to contribute to a shift from short-term interventions towards systems that strengthen education, skills, employment and human potential. South Africa has extraordinary talent, innovation and resilience. Our challenge is not a lack of potential, but ensuring that opportunity, capital and capability connect.
As a leader, I want to continue building bridges between sectors, generations and communities and to demonstrate that responsible kindness can be both deeply human and strategically effective.
I founded PhilanthroStrat to turn what I had learnt through generations of philanthropy into an independent platform for more strategic, sustainable and accountable giving.
Since then, I have worked across social impact, organisational strategy, fundraising, governance and innovation while continuing to contribute to organisations including Afrika Tikkun, The Smile Foundation, the Lubner Family Foundation.
My work has also increasingly extended beyond individual organisations into wider leadership and sector-building spaces. In 2025, I was invited to serve as a judge for the Pan-Africa ESG Awards of the ASEA Conference, in the ESG Pioneer category. I am also a Social Impact Member of NEXUS Global, connecting me to a wider community of next-generation philanthropists, impact leaders and changemakers.
I have also helped activate strategic relationships that bring global platforms into African contexts. This included formalising and supporting Afrika Tikkun’s partnership with The Valuable 500 and helping position the organisation to host the inaugural Valuable 500 Africa Summit, creating a platform for disability inclusion, corporate leadership and African executives to come together around a shared agenda.
In 2026, I was awarded Social Impact Leader of the Year by the Future Leaders Forum, recognition that was particularly meaningful because it acknowledged the work I have built independently and the contribution I am seeking to make to the social-impact sector.
I have also sought to use my platform through mentorship, intergenerational leadership initiatives and spaces focused on the future of South Africa and Africa more broadly.
Perhaps most importantly, I have tried to demonstrate that inheriting a legacy does not mean simply preserving it. Legacy can be inherited, but purpose is chosen. For me, that means taking responsibility for what I build next and using the opportunities, relationships and experience I have inherited to create something relevant for a new generation of philanthropy.
