Head of Legal (Consumer & M&A) at Lesaka Technologies, advising on transformative fintech transactions and financial inclusion initiatives that expand access to banking and economic opportunity across South Africa.
I am the Head of Legal (Consumer and Mergers & Acquisitions) at Lesaka Technologies, a leading South African fintech focused on financial inclusion. I lead legal support for the Consumer Division and advise on strategic transactions across the Group. My role sits at the intersection of law, business and social impact, helping to deliver products, partnerships and acquisitions that expand access to financial services for underserved South Africans. Prior to joining Lesaka, I worked at three of Africa’s leading law firms, advising on complex corporate, commercial and M&A transactions. Today, I combine that legal expertise with a commercial mindset to help drive growth and innovation in one of South Africa’s most dynamic sectors.
I believe I was nominated because of both the trajectory of my career and the impact of my work. In less than three years at Lesaka, I progressed from Group Legal Counsel and Legal Business Partner to Head of Legal (Consumer and M&A), one of the company’s senior legal leadership positions.
During this time, I have advised on significant strategic transactions, including Lesaka’s acquisitions of Adumo, Recharger and Touchsides, and I was one of only two in-house legal team members responsible for facilitating Lesaka’s acquisition of Bank Zero. Beyond these transactions, I support the Consumer Division’s mission to expand financial inclusion, helping to create legal and commercial frameworks that enable greater access to financial services for millions of South Africans.
Professionally, I hope to continue growing as a strategic business leader while remaining grounded in the legal profession. I aspire to lead at the highest levels of business while mentoring and developing future legal talent.
Personally, I want to build a meaningful life centred around family, community and service, while remaining connected to the values that have shaped me.
For South Africa, my vision is a country where opportunity is not determined by circumstance, and where greater access to quality education, financial services and economic participation enables more people to realise their potential. I believe business, technology and ethical leadership all have an important role to play in achieving that future.
