I am the founder and lead volunteer of Community Circle SA. I run the page of currently 31 300+ members from over 100 countries around the world on a voluntary basis. I specialize in educating people on how to “South African” encouraging them to learn how to navigate various situations and then share that knowledge on the group. I have built up an extremely broad spectrum of officials both in South Africa affording me the ability to call on that network to assist me to help my fellow Saffas, dual nationals and foreign nationals out of often serious and at times dangerous situations.
The group has a fantastic following and have become known for my knowledgeable approach as well as my ability to rescue from or repair difficult situations.
I am known for my resourcefulness, accuracy, and knowledge as well as my patience and ability to empathize and help those in need. I am approached by diplomats for assistance with their nationals, South Africans in sometimes extreme need of help abroad or locally. I have been told I’m peoples first thought to call on when they need help or find themselves in trouble.
I’m well versed in Home Affairs and travel regulations and work with officials from Dirco, DHA and VFS regularly to help citizens in need. I ask for no remuneration as this is my way of giving back to my community. I am passionate about helping those who cannot help themselves and reducing the stress people are going through in serious and difficult situations.
I am extremely proud to watch my group grow and witness people helping each other in the spirit of Ubuntu rather than the terribly competitive and ugly nature I’ve found on many other groups. I approach each member with the perspective that “people are not the problem — people HAVE problems” and dealing with situations by de-escalating where required, helping them take a strategic pause before navigating the steps required calmly and with purpose. I believe everything has a solution of sorts if we just take the time and have the patience in ourselves and each other to tackle it strategically.
I can only assume that someone I helped out of a stressful situation has put my name forward as a way to show their appreciation.
Vision: I would like to see the community circle touch more people in need. I would like to find a corporate sponsor who would also benefit from my following to enable me to grow it into something that generates an income and employs South Africans whilst still keeping the ethos of the group and the common goal at heart which is to help our fellow South Africans. I’d like my group to grow stronger in numbers and abilities and build even more relationships with international figures. I would love to travel more to meet my followers and host webinars and events to show case what our country has to offer.
