Bridgement

Bridgement is a fintech company on a mission to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa with simple, fast, and accessible finance. We’ve built a company that not only supports thousands of entrepreneurs directly but is now powering banks to do the same through our technology.

Bridgement was founded with the belief that small businesses deserve better: faster access to funding, less paperwork, and more trust in their potential. Since launching, we’ve unlocked over R2 billion in funding for SMEs across South Africa in every industry sector, with clients receiving funding within hours of applying. By removing the barriers of traditional finance, we’ve helped businesses hire staff, expand operations, invest in growth, and survive challenges that might otherwise have forced them to close their doors.

A major milestone in our journey has been recognition from Xero, the global accounting software powerhouse. Bridgement won App of the Year at the Xero Awards in 2023 and again in 2025, making us the first African fintech credit provider to receive this honour – twice. This recognition validates not only the quality and innovation of our technology but also the global relevance of what we’re building in South Africa.

While our beginnings were in offering funding directly to SMEs, our model has since evolved to have an even greater impact. Today, Bridgement also enables banks and large financial institutions to extend working capital to their SME customers through our technology. By licensing our platform, we empower established financial players to serve entrepreneurs more effectively, ensuring that thousands more SMEs gain access to funding they would otherwise struggle to secure. In this way, Bridgement has moved beyond being a fintech lender to becoming a technology enabler for the financial ecosystem.

Our nomination for the SA Jewish Achievers Awards is, we believe, recognition of both our business achievements and the impact Bridgement has on South Africa’s entrepreneurial backbone. SMEs are the engine of employment and innovation, yet they remain underserved. By funding them directly and now empowering banks to do so at scale, we are unlocking opportunities that ripple through the broader economy – creating jobs, building communities, and supporting families.

What makes us worthy winners is not only the numbers but the purpose and principles that underpin them. Bridgement was built on values of perseverance, fairness, and community upliftment, values that deeply resonate with our heritage. We each bring unique strengths, finance, technology, risk, and strategy, but share a vision of building tools that give entrepreneurs the confidence and means to thrive. Our core values and South African grit have enabled us to build something of global standard that tangibly improves lives and livelihoods.

Our vision is to continue to build world-class technology that empowers SMEs and banks to unlock growth. By fuelling entrepreneurship, we aim to strengthen South Africa’s economy, create jobs, and uplift communities.
